Could Léo Moura be on His Way Out in Fort Lauderdale?

The Fort Lauderdale Strikers are heading to Brazil this week to play a friendly with Ponte Preta, yet their superstar might not be returning.

According to sources, Strikers captain, Léo Moura is currently in Brazil with his agent Eduardo Uram talking with Brazilian clubs about a possible return to his native country.

“We have some interest in Brazil for Léo’s services,” said Moura’s agent. “I still have to speak to him tonight so we can decide on the future.”

The Flamengo legend can soon be suiting up for one of his former club’s biggest rival, Fluminense, in what could be an end to his Fort Lauderdale saga not even three months after it started.

According to the source, Moura and Uram will be having dinner tonight with Fluminense’s soccer director, Fernando Simone.

Moura played for Fluminense in 2004 alongside Brazilian greats like Edmundo and Romário.

The 36-year old right back had issues early in the season when playing at the midfield, but began to blossom late in the season when he was moved to his more natural right back position.

“Any speculation about Moura leaving the club is just rumors,” said Fort Lauderdale Strikers Vice President of Communications, George Stieren. “Moura left earlier than the team to renew his visa.”

The Strikers hobbled to a 3-2-5 record in the 2015 NASL Spring Season, but ended the season on a high note, beating Minnesota United FC in comeback fashion.

Speculation of Moura’s departure has been a topic of strong discussion among fans when Andre Chavez, the man who spearheaded Moura’s singing in Fort Lauderdale, was fired late in the season.
